Unfortunately the Revelstoke and District Humane Society does not take in surrenders as we volunteer in a very small shelter in the city yard. As our agreement with the city we take care of the animals that are brought in by animal control, which have been neglected or abandoned. At the present moment our shelter is at capacity. Abandoning an animal is not only cruel but also illegal and if caught you can be charged with cruelty. If you must re-home your pet here is a couple of things you can do:
– Advertise through the Stoke List. ( make sure you re-post every few days and add a picture)
– get hold of Revelstoke and District Humane Society as soon as you know you need to re-home your pet and we will post your pet on our blog, The stoke list and on facebook.
– Print posters and post them on bulletin boards all around town.
– Make sure your pet is up to date with their vaccinations, and if possible is spayed or neutered.
– If you still can’t find a home for your pet, call the SPCA in Salmon Arm.
